Persepolis Movie Invitation

Persepolis Movie Invitation

While studying French at the European Academy in Guatemala City, I started a small French Film Club for fellow students. The objective of the club was to watch French films while gaining insight in French culture as well as practicing our ear for the French language. I am quite passionate about languages, design, and movies, so I was excited to make creative invitations for the viewings. Persepolis is an animated film about the transformation of Marjane Satrapi from a young girl in Iran to a young adult in Austria followed by her attempted reintegration into Iranian society. I used an Arab geometry background and a Russian nesting doll motif to represent the stages Marjane goes through in her coming-of-age tale. Each character is drawn based on scenes from the movie.
